Fleur de Sel

From the 12th to the 16th century, Bourgneuf, located in Charente-Maritime at a short distance from La Rochelle, experienced its golden age thanks to the trade and export of salt throughout Europe. With the silting up of the bay and the gradual decrease in this activity, the salt marshes become a haven of peace for birds and many other animal species rub shoulders.

It is in the very heart of this privileged place that the prestigious past of the Salines de Millac has been reborn since 2002. Located in the south of the Loire estuary, bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, the Pays de Retz concentrates all the riches of the sea and the land. Here, at the gates of Bourgneuf-en-Retz in the former "Baye de Bretagne", the mosaic of water and greenery of the "Marais Breton" stretches as far as the eye can see.
